Title: Be Nice, Brother; It's Christmas
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: (a relatively light) PG-13
Word Count: 16,900
Warnings: language, FRIGGING SCHMOOP, more adult implications than last time, LITERALLY DIDN'T FINISH REREADING THIS; FORGIVE ME
Summary: A sequel to Flying Horses: Despite many threats involving coal and minor bodily injury, Christmas turns out almost impossibly well.
Author's Note: MERRY CHRISTMAS AT THE LAST SECOND!

Thank you guys all for putting up with me for another year. You are all the MVPs. ♥

This sucker is supposed to take place relatively shortly after the last one, and the dates are set for 2016. Given that I fudged the timelines so badly in the last one, I'm hoping you guys won't mind terribly if I fudge them again. XD

To the commenter from last time, who asked about whether Ed had a prosthetic in this AU: at the time, because the first fic was about Roy navigating his own feelings, I honestly hadn't even thought about it. Thank you for reminding me that not thinking about it is, in itself, a privilege; and thank you for reminding me that representation matters, no matter how small the corner of the internet where it appears.

Also: much as I love me some Al/Win in the right circumstances, you are going to have to pry aroace!Al out of my cold, dead hands.

Roy is comparing the sugar content of the store brand knockoff of the no-marshmallows-but-enough-colors-to-still-be-fun cereal with the certified version, which costs almost twenty percent more. )

Title: Miscellanea
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,000
Warnings: intermittent language; post-Conqueror of Shamballa AU; IT'S A BALL OF FLUFF
Summary: Good things arrive, unheralded, in perfectly normal-sized packages.
Author's Note: The incredibly sweet Gettibucket was having a crappy week, so I was like "What does Getti like??", and my first thought was, "CoS! And Ed suffering! And… winter? And… schmoop?" The latter two might've been me, but… I tried. :') Hope it makes you smile, friend. ♥♥♥ This time of year can be really hard, guys. If it is for you right now, please hang in there as best you can. ♥

The knock at the door makes Roy startle, and then it makes him pause.  He isn’t expecting anyone. )

Title: Difficult to Argue
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 14,300
Warnings: intermittent language; post-BH AU; some dark content/gore (though nothing significantly worse than canon)
Summary: It's a well-deserved shame and a cordially-invited tragedy that anything Roy tries to treasure goes down in flames.
Author's Note: Inspired by Jujubee's amazing art – the feeling that it gave me ran away with this fic, which is why I did such a poor job of highlighting the art itself, oops. >__>' All the same: thank you, Jujubee, and ALL of the artists in this fandom, for sharing your beautiful work with us. Even if we forget to say it sometimes, we love and appreciate everything you do. ♥

Roy’s waiting by the phone and listening to the rain.  Is that pathetic? )

Title: With Fries
Fandom: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Characters/Pairing: Lance, Hunk, & Pidge with low-key Shiro/Keith and Lance hate!crushin' on the mullet
Rating: PG
Word Count: 5,390
Warnings: pointless modern!AU; Lance is my favorite dweeb in the history of dweebness
Summary: This summer gig could be worse, but only if it made a concerted effort and believed in itself and wished upon a star.
Author's Note: Hello, Voltron fandom; my name is Tierfal, and I like modern!AUs, stupid puns, and sassy space children. :'D

Another day, another dance with the deep-fryer. )

Title: Heartbeat
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 47,200 (7,300 this part)
Warnings: language; post-BH AU; emetophobic parties beware; depictions of anxiety and depression (including dark intrusive thoughts); very much unwanted touches (see the note)
Summary: Ed makes the mistake of waiting on goddamn tenterhooks for something to change – and then, naturally, something does.
Author's Note: This is part of the demi!Ed series, set after Kindling! Also, LONG NOTE:Abandon hope of impartiality ye who enter here: this fic is a particularly poignant example of my habit of writing to myself, about myself, to a certain extent. I'm not sure if I should call it "bad", as far as the habit goes, because it often seems to resonate with people… And so much of the point of writing, of fanfic, of all of fandom for me is to be out here saying I know you think you're fucked up – and maybe you are, but you're a long way yet from broken, and you're definitely not alone.

Elaborating on the warnings above: particularly in the later chapters, there's a lot of material about depression in this fic (including a bit more suicidal ideation and a variety of somewhat disturbing intrusive thoughts); emetophobic parties should proceed with caution; and there's some very non-consensual physical contact. I didn't warn for that in so many words because I feel like it would implicate Roy because of the pairing, but that isn't the case. And that would make a big difference to me as a reader, so I figured it might change things for a lot of you as well!

As far as the song goes, the album came out back when I still had the energy to do the RP blog thing, and something about the tone of this song really captured the essence of demi!Ed for me – the resignation and the sadness and the emptiness and the loneliness all tangled up together in with an old determination.

P.S. Con fever update: I'm going to be at SacAnime on Saturday the 3rd, and then at YaoiCon the 16th through the 18th!

It’s not like it’s ever a surprise when Hawkeye’s right about something, because she’s Hawkeye, but in this particular case— )

[Part 2]

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Speechless
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13 R
Word Count: 20,000?? (3,900 in this piece)
Warnings: something like a post-BH AU; language; blood and drama at turns and also at once; it wouldn't be a Tierfal fic without some bad innuendo; S O U L M A T E S!!
Prompt: "soulmarks on the wrist/arm that Ed lost" for Roy/Ed Week
Summary: Ed's stupid mark is long, long gone, but it's not like he has time to care.
Author's Note: AS USUAL, I set out to write something quick and punchy and ended up with a 20K crime against fiction and humanity. I'm nearly done, so I will hopefully have and be posting the rest this weekend… -____-'

Ed is not going to rub his arm. )

[Part 2]

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Coal and Carbon
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,000
Warnings: S C H M O O P; one of many vaguely post-BH AUs where I don't even bother explaining why things are the way that I like them
Prompt: "intricate machinery" for Roy/Ed Week
Summary: It's the little things in life – or, as luck would have it, in one's bed.
Author's Note: Q. Are you really trying to pass off a poorly-executed extended metaphor as a fanfic? A. WELCOME TO ROY/ED WEEK, MOTHERFUCKERS ……maybe.

Surfacing from sleep and knowing, somewhere in the back of his mind, that he doesn’t have to drag himself out of bed for several hours yet is one of the single simplest and most decadent pleasures of life, as far as Roy is concerned. )

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Loud and Clear: The Second Law of Thermodynamics
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed (with Al/Win)
Rating: R
Word Count: 43,250 (11,250 this chapter)
Warnings: language, modern!AU, naughty shit happens at intervals, +10 to cheesy domestic fluff
Summary: Occasions come and go – ordinarily, so do people, but Roy's fast becoming a fixed point with his own damn rules.
Author's Note: You will want to have read PART I as well as PART II, or I'm afraid you'll be confused. I don't make the rules… I just make, like, 100K of context. :'D SO ANYWAY, here we are – happy 520 Day, a bit late because it had the gall to fall on a weekday and whatnot. I'm hoping to update next Monday – and it won't be any earlier than that, 'cause I'm gonna be at FANIME!!!!!!! all weekend… with up to 3 other amazing Roy/Ed authors around me at any given time. :3 If you're going to be there, and you see me, say hi! ♥

He’s not breathing.  He recognizes that in a kind of abstract way, like, Oh, blue sky, green grass, no oxygen coming in to feed the brain that got me here. )

[Chapter 1, Part 2/2]

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: The Smart Bet
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Miles/Alfons
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,450
Warnings: brief language; CANONSMASH!
Prompt: SOULMATE AU, BRO
Summary: Miles is a soldier and a pragmatist – not a gambler, not a dreamer, not a fool.
Author's Note: A late birthday present for the captain of this beautiful ship. ♥

People don’t usually ask questions—and when they do, they rarely ask the right ones. )

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Spectra
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 16,200 (4,900 this chapter)
Warnings: language; ALL OF THE SPOILERS for '03/CoS
Summary: A prism with three faces. (Colorblindness/soulmates AU.)
Author's Note: So people were like, "DAMN, where's all the CoS!Roy/Ed?"; and then Mthaytr was like, "DAMN, where's all the Roy/Ed with the sexy pining?", and then they were like, "Also, remember that incredible soulmate-colorblindness AU that Panda made?", and somehow I forgot how much CoS eats my brain.

Anyway, this thing basically wrote itself over the course of a week and a half – which was something of a miracle, really, because I've been so burned out on pretty much everything that it was an incredible relief to feel like writing was fun and easy and natural again.

tl;dr I wrote this over a month ago; y'all know the drill with my life these days. But now that I finally found the energy to reread it, I'm actually kinda pleased with how it turned out, so that's… something. :'D

At least Roy’s alive. )

[Part II]

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Magnitude and Force
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Hei/Ed
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,220
Warnings: language; modern AU; schmoop; please explain this "editing" of which you speak
Summary: [Sequel to The Worst Trip Ever, because ideas are hard.] Ed has a lot of uncanny talents, one of which is making things that should be stupid turn out great.
Author's Note: Some Alfons for my Alfons! Happy birthday, kid; I love you. ♥

“Hey,” Ed says.  “Can I tell you a secret?” )

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Choose Your Own Rainbow
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: pre-Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 15,600
Warnings: language; absurdity; I did, like, two Google searches on some of this stuff and then left it at that because Roy is kind of a poser anyway?; this needs a lot more editing but ain't nobody got time for that; modern AU
Summary: Edward Elric has the most singular talent of anyone alive for taking Roy's zen, thrashing it thoroughly, and then hurling it into a Dumpster. …metaphysically speaking, anyway.
Author's Note: A now extremely late birthday present for Obersten!!!!! ♥ Based on his ridiculously A+ Downward Dogs AU – the premise is founded in some intel I acquired from Secret Insider Sources, and then I made up everything else. :'D tl;dr if you like a detail/aspect of this, it's probably Berg's; if you're like "wtf is this shit," it's probably one of my additions. X'D (Or it's one of the things I half-assedly pretended to research! I am a pro at this writing shit.)

Today Roy is going to tell Ed how stupid it is to hate on chakra beads. )

[Part 2]

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Ferrocerium
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1,630
Warnings: AU from the end of BH probs; language because Ed; innuendo because Roy
Summary: Of love and lighters and a bag of kebabs.
Author's Note: Started this for Mthaytr a couple weeks back and dashed the rest off tonight to post for Valentine's Day. ♥ Late-ass timezone ftw. :'D

Roy stops by the kebab place on his way home from headquarters, because it’s been a long damn day, and he’s craving something savory. He doesn’t imagine that his housemate is likely to turn down food no matter how much dinner has already been consumed in Roy’s admittedly lengthy absence. )

[identity profile] tierfal.livejournal.com
Title: Winging It
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Pairing: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 4,100
Warnings: language; innuendo; pointless and unnecessary modern!AU volume LXVIII
Summary: Strangely enough, this is the one time Roy didn't expect to be cruising at 37,000 feet.
Author's Note: This fic happened because airline travel makes me a salty bitch, so when I was leaving for my grandmother's funeral and saw a girl curling her hair in the airport bathroom, my first thought was "Do you think you're going to find your damn soulmate on the plane?" My second thought was "ROY/ED AU WHERE ED HAS A PHOBIA OF FLYING!!!!" …and now we're here. Don't worry; karma made sure I caught the Plague on my way back. :|

There are two problems with the young man sitting in the window seat when Roy settles down next to the aisle for the first leg of his flight. )
